Are you a retail store with retail hours or are all cakes made to order?

No, Fiona’s is not a retail bakery. All cakes are made fresh to order.

How do I order a birthday cake or other occasion cake?

You can order by phone, [email] or stop by to discuss your cake ideas and picked up your order at a pre-arranged date and time. Orders are not reserved without a credit card hold information.  Wedding cake consultations are by appointment only.

Are your cakes made from scratch with the freshest ingredients?

Yes, by ordering a cake “made to order” you are guaranteed to have a Fiona Cake made from scratch with the freshest ingredients, and never frozen.

Do you make birthday cakes, grooms cakes, and special occasion cakes?

Yes, Fiona’s makes cakes for all occasions.  At this time we are unable to provide “character cakes” or 3D cakes due to other cake business levels.

Do you make cupcakes?

Yes, Fiona’s makes cupcakes in regular and mini size.  Minimum order is one dozen for regular and 2 dozen for mini sizes.

How far in advance do I need to order a birthday cake or other occasion cake?

Fiona requests and prefers that you place your order at least 5 days in advance.  Sometimes we are able to accommodate rush orders with a 24 hour turn around time.

What method of payment do you accept?

Fiona accepts cash and check.  If you wish to use a VISA or MC there is a 3% convenience fee added.

How much does a wedding cake cost? Or: How do you price your wedding cakes?

Fiona’s wedding cake prices vary as each cake is created to your specific requirements and style. Freshness and taste are as important as design and style. Remember a great tasting cake that gets eaten vs. one that doesn’t essentially ends up costing more. The base cost for a wedding cake is the price per serving times the number of servings you would like to have.  You will have up to 10 days before the wedding day to finalize your order.   [Request a quote]

When should we reserve the date for our wedding cake? Or: How far in advance should I order my wedding cake?

Fiona’s recommends that you order your wedding cake 3 to 9 months in advance.  We do accept reservations closer to the wedding date if the date is still available.

Do you offer a free wedding cake design tasting consultation?

Yes, Fiona’s offers a free consultation by appointment only. Due to limited scheduling time on Saturdays please call as far in advance as possible.  A pre arranged sample plate is offered.  Upon request we can switch out a flavor in order to include a carrot or red velvet sample.

How many people can join me in the tasting?

Due to limited space, we request that you limit your group to no more than 4 people.

Do I need to bring anything to the meeting?

At the meeting we will discuss your style and ideas.  Feel free to bring anything you would like to incorporate and will help guide you through the process.

How do I confirm my wedding cake agreement?

To confirm your wedding cake order a $100 deposit and a signed agreement is required to reserve the date on the calendar for you. You can do this at the meeting or mail it in later with your check and credit card information hold.  

What method of payment do you accept?

Fiona’s accepts cash, check and VISA or MC with a 3% convenience fee.

Is my wedding cake deposit refundable?

Yes, your deposit is refundable up to 3 months prior to your wedding date.  Exceptions are made for military deployment.

Will you deliver my wedding cake to the venue?

Yes, Fiona’s offers delivery to your wedding venue.  The delivery cost varies with the distance traveled from the Severna Park Shop location.

Who decorates the cake with flowers?

Either Fiona or the florist can arrange fresh flowers on your wedding cake, depending upon your preference.  In most cases Fiona will take care of this for you since we do not like to deliver the cake too early before the wedding.

Do you rent cake stands?

Yes, we offer a 20” diameter silver cake plateau for rent.  The rental fee is $45 and the plateau must be returned within the following week.

Do you offer sheet cakes as back up cake to the wedding cake?

Yes, to help lower the cost of the wedding cake, we offer back up sheet cakes.  Keep in mind that sheet cakes are less than half the size of a wedding cake serving with more icing to cake ratio and looks quite different.  Sheet cakes are two layers of cake with one layer of filling.  Wedding cake tiers are about 4 inches tall and most cakes have 4 layers of cake and 3 layers of filling which provides you with a very moist and flavorful piece of cake.

Do you provide a box for the top tier?

Yes, a box is provided if you wish to save the top tier.  You can also order a fresh anniversary cake the following year(s).
